Matthew's Birthday

I am really sorry that it has taken me so long to get these pictures posted from our activities last week.
Last Tuesday Sept 8th was Matthew's actual birthday.
Here is a few pictures from him opening presents on his actual birthday.
He loved ripping the wrapping paper.
His new shirt from Papa and Gram. It says Demolition Expert.
His new piggy bank from Aunt K, Adam and Emma.
New crocodile xylophone and some new ABC blocks.

Then on Wednesday, he got his new haircut. Click here to see that if you have not seen that already. When we got home he just was not himself. He fell asleep on me which is very uncommon and he actually wanted his mama over his daddy.
Then I tranfered him to daddy for a bit.
Then on Thursday some of Matthew's cousins came over to play and bring him his birthday present because they were not able to come to Matthew's party on Friday. Alexa just loves to play with Matthew.
Eva does too!
Then Thursday night I stayed up and made the cakes.
Matthew's Party had a Farm theme.
The farm theme came from his very first birthday present from Papa and Gram which he has had since the beginning of July. You have already seen pictures of his cute Allis Chalmers model C tractor. Click here to see again.
Isn't this the cutest cake?
This is the other cake. I was not so happy about how this one turned out but for my first time I thought it was okay plus it was getting late so this had to work.
On Friday, we were glad we had Matthew's one year check up because Matthew had been running a fever for a few days. He woke up and just looked sick.
And all he wanted to do was snuggle with his mama!
This picture just wants to make me cry because he just was not feeling good and there was not much I could do but snuggle with him.
His fever was a combination of teething (Yes his first tooth came in for his 1st birthday) and he had the same cold that Scott and I both had.
At his one year check up he weighed 19 lbs 9 oz (10th percentile) and is 29" long (25th percentile). He fell asleep on the way home and then slept for 3 hours. Then in the afternoon he took another 3 hour nap. Before he took his second nap, he played with his new toy from Grandpa Roger and Auntie Mandy.
I had to wake him up when people starting arriving for his birthday party. It was a pretty busy night so I forgot to take a picture of his barn. I made a barn out of cardboard that people had to walk through to get into the garage. Did anyone else get a picture? If so can you email it to me please.
This is my nephew Austin sporting his new glasses.
It was a big party with lots of people. There were 67 people including Scott, Matthew and I.
We had lots of fun.
We had my family, Scott's family, Adie and her family and Sebastian and his family and a few friends.
Talking with Grandma G and Kailoa.
Adie and Matthew
Sebastian and Matthew
Great Grandma Rita and Matthew
(Rita is Adie's Grandma)
Opening of presents! Whew was there a lot of them! Our living room is overflowing with toys.
He got a tool box(right corner) and nailer with jet.
He got a few books and a fuzzy bear bible.
He got this very cute sock monkey.
Some jammies and an alphabet catepillar.
A doodle pro shaped as a barn.
A John Deere gas tank coin bank.
A very neat poem using the letters in his name.
Some very cute outfits: a football one and a fox shirt that says I am a sly guy.
This very cute tractor lamp.
A big picture Bible.
This great picture of an Allis Chalmers tractor that almost matches his.
This soft Noah's ark with little animals.
And lots of cards. His favorite was the card with the suckers on top.
Yes I let him have a sucker while we read the cards.
He got this cute little four wheeler from Adie and family.
And this really cute turtle sand box from his auntie and uncle and his new cousin he is anxiously awaiting to meet some time in January.
CAKE TIME!
He was not sure what to think when we all started singing Happy Birthday to him!
He wanted to play with the candle.

Not sure if he really wanted to touch it. First he just put his finger in it and played with it.

When his hand was good and full of frosting, he even fed Adie some frosting.
He sure likes to share!
He decided to share with his mama and get frosting all over my arm. I don't know who was covered with more frosting by the time he was done: him or me.
Then he got mad because he realized he didn't have a spoon or a fork. Yes he has to eat with a spoon or a fork or he screams.
He has his spoon so now is happy and can eat some cake. I don't think that he actually ate to much. He had more fun playing with it.
He was even trying to ham it up.

It is tradition in Scott's family to have an Angel food cake.
They even have this really cute train that holds the candles. The train is also a tradition that was started by Matthew's Great Aunt Karyl when her boys were young (both of her boys are in their early 40's).
Matthew wanted to play with the candle again.
We had lots of fun and are still working on cleaning and putting everything away.

WOW! Now that's a party! (a few friends. . . haha!) Good luck finding a place for everything! We still are trying to do that since Jakob turned one! :0)

Wow Joanna! It must have taken you a while to download all that stuff from his B-Day! I have to laugh about your fork & spoon story because Sebastian was the same way as a toddler! He would not use his fingers. I hope Matthew is feeling better! We all love you guys very much!
