So Content!

He loves this truck that my sister made for him.
He was so content sitting and reading his book tonight.
He almost looks annoyed that Scott was taking his picture(ahem interrupting his reading).
After he was done reading, he drove his tractor book around a little.
He is going to bed earlier than normal tonight because we have to get up early tomorrow.
Matthew and I are going to an early childhood class starting tomorrow and then every Monday until mid-May.

Our Little Daredevil

Matthew is a little daredevil.
He is also a climber.
He was trying to dance as he stood on his train.

Showing Off

Last night after our company left, we went to visit Papa and Grammie.
Matthew was being a show off.
Then he realized that whenever he made a funny noise or he rolled his shoulders and laughed, everyone would laugh at him.  So of course, he did it more and more.
We have got one crazy entertaining boy on our hands.

Visitors

Yesterday we had company!
My dad and half sister came to visit along with my sister, her husband and sweet Annabelle.
Scott actually got to hold her for a tiny bit before Matthew realized and got jealous.
And then this happened:
As we were saying good-bye to my sister, her husband and Annabelle, we were standing on the steps and Matthew fell down a couple steps and hit his head on the railing.  He got a little cut above his eye and also some carpet burn on the side of his nose which is almost gone today.  He still has a little swelling by his eye.  It seemed like he cried for a really long time.  I almost gave in and gave him his nukkie to make him feel better but Scott said he had gone as long as he did without it that we shouldn't.  I cried too.

Blog

We would like everyone to know that our blog was originally started to help promote the OPEN part of our adoption.  We started it to give Matthew's birthparents, their families and all our extended family a glimpse into our every day life and the joys of open adoption.  We are very blessed to have a wonderful relationship with Matthew's birthparents and their families and we would not want to jeopardize that relationship in any way.  Scott and I both appreciate your support but we will not tolerate negative comments that are left regarding our other followers.

OH NO!

UPDATE:
The first night without the nukkie went really well.  Matthew didn't wake up in the middle of the night crying or anything.  He did however wake up really early this morning crying.  I let him cry for a few minutes to see if he would fall back asleep.  He didn't so he got to come lay with us in our bed for a few minutes.

ORIGINAL POST:
OH NO!  "Someone" stole Matthew's nukkies!
Hehehehe it was me!
On our way home from town today, Scott and I were talking and trying to keep Matthew awake, when our conversation turned to his nukkies.
We decided today was the day!
When we got home while Matthew was busy as he always is, I snuck into his room and grabbed ALL (like 8) nukkies out of his crib and hid them in my shirt so he couldn't see because I heard him coming.
Shortly after we were home, it was nap time.
We went into his room, grabbed his blanket and starting to rock.  He kept saying nukkie.  I told him that someone stole them and I put him in his crib to investigate.
He did get a special present though!
I bought some really cute John Deere fleece and made him a single thick tied blanket (since he loves the fleece fringes rubbed on his cheeks).  As soon as I was done with it, he grabbed it, put it up to his face and ran off with it snuggled up to him.  I will get a picture up as some as I get one taken.
We also bought a bookshelf unit for Matthew's room for all his books.
It was pretty late by the time we got that put together and all his things organized and he was one tired little boy.  So far so good.  I will post when we wake up to tell you how the first no nuk night went.

Helping Daddy Again

Matthew got to help daddy downstairs again.
He even got to help mud the sheetrock.
He did a great job!
I don't know who got dirtier!
Look at the mud on his fingers too!

Visiting Annabelle Again

One proud Auntie to a sweet niece Annabelle!

She was already making faces at her auntie!

Annabelle and Uncle Scott

Then of course Matthew got a little jealous that his daddy was holding Annabelle.

Matthew was trying to get more attention by pulling on his ear and saying "OUCH".
He was hamming it up for everyone that was visiting.
Annabelle is so sweet.  I just can't get enough of her.
I've already told Scott that I am getting baby fever REALLY bad!
I wish that we could begin the adoption process again.

Matthew's New Cousin

Matthew's cousin, Annabelle, was born on January 24, 2010 at 6:46 pm.
She weighed 8 lbs 6 oz and was 20 1/2" long.
She is the most adorable baby girl ever!

Matthew is a proud big cousin!

Working with Daddy

I was trying to sneak downstairs to take a picture and when I came around the corner Matthew came out of the room beebopping to the music.
Then he was off the get some tools to help daddy.

Helping daddy do some taping and mudding.

He was helping daddy alright.

Then daddy got on the stilts to doing the taping on the ceiling.
Matthew got to walk with daddy a little on the stilts.

Showing off how close he is to the ceiling.  He was almost able to touch it.

He loves working with daddy in the basement.
Usually it is more like daddy is working with Matthew.
Matthew is always on the move and always finding some kind of a tool to use.

Spending Time with Adie

Today we went to lunch with Adie (Matthew's birthmom) for her birthday.
We had lots of fun!
Matthew was being a little show off.
After dinner, we went to Adie's house for awhile to visit.

Adie put a headband on Matthew.
Isn't he so cute?!?!
He and Adie has lots of fun together.
He was his little busy body self and had to play with everything and was on the move the whole time we were visiting.
He even got a little haircut from Mamma (Adie's mom).

Thristy Boy

So this is what Matthew does when he wants something to drink or something to eat.  He stands by the fridge and says "Peas" (Please) and if he doesn't get his way right away because mommy wants to take his picture, he gets mad and cries.
But as you can see he already has a cup which he threw on the floor next to his feet.
Sometimes he just likes to play with all the stuff in the door of the fridge.

Fingerprint Friday

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know its true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God
So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them?

We are patiently awaiting the arrival of God's fingerprint.
My sister looks so beautiful pregnant (only 4 days to her due date)!
These pictures were taken yesterday.

Here's another little fingerprint of God:
(Matthew's not quite sure what's going on)

We told him to go feel the baby.
He had to look for the baby first.

Giving Auntie Susie and Baby a hug with Grandma's help!

I am so HAPPY for my sister and her husband.
I am especially excited to meet my new niece or nephew who likes to kick her/his favorite Aunt!

Lovie #2

He loves this!
Especially when he is tired!
I tried this for nap time today and he knew what I was trying to do and wanted down immediately.

#6

He is getting tooth #6.
It is just breaking the gums.
Explains why he is drooling so much.
It runs out like a faucet.
It also doesn't help that he has learned or continues to spit like a mad man.
Of course, all this drool doesn't help his already chapped lip.

BooBoo

Do you see his fat lip?
He fell tonight while playing and got the fat lip.
Oh did he cry!
 Mama almost did too.
I was surprised at how calm I stayed.
He loved sucking on the cold wash cloth though.

Oreo Boy

Whenever Matthew goes to Papa and Grammie's house, he always get a treat out of the treasure chest.  One treat was Oreos and this is what happens:

And of course, he had to even put some in his hair.

He even thought he looked pretty funny when he looked at himself in the mirror.

He even had to dunk them in milk like his momma.

Guess what we watched today!

Guess what we watched today?

Obviously you can tell who we were cheering for!

Lovie

Does your child have a lovie?  Be it a blanket, a nukkie/pacifier, or a stuffed toy.

Matthew still has his nukkie which we hopefully will be able to broke him of it soon.  We have found that he loves to have a corner or part of a blanket lightly rubbed around on his cheek and his face.  Of course we have to be careful not to get it full of Vaseline.  We use Vaseline around his lips because his nukkie gives him a chapped area around his mouth.

Any good ideas to use to take the nukkie away?

Matthew loves his Papa!

He also loves to be nakie as he calls it!
Matthew gets to visit his Papa once a week and spend the day with Papa and Grammie (or as Matthew says it MeMe).

Baby Bliss

Last week I started watching a 2 month old little girl.
Matthew has been a little jealous and doesn't always want to share his momma!
He sure is intrigued with the baby though.

He even wants to hold onto her hand.

It is so hard to remember that Matthew was once that small.  I can't believe how fast he is growing and learning.  He even tries to share his trucks with her.

He Sure Loves His Daddy

This has become a nightly occurance at our house:
Matthew taking a shower with Daddy.

He loves playing in the water.  He even knows to walk backwards toward the spraying water so not to get a face full.  He is just to smart for his own good.  His dry chapped lip is looking better.
After their shower, I found them snuggling on the couch again.
This time they were watch Bugs Bunny/Looney Toons on YouTube.

He was saying to me, "See".
