HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY MATTHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HaPpY 1st BiRtHdAy MaTtHeW!

I can't believe that one year ago today our sweet Matthew was born. I remember the day oh so well. Let me tell you the story: It was a Monday morning. I was on my way to work when at 6:45 a.m. my cell phone rang. The first thing I remember hearing was are you ready to go to the hospital? My reaction: What! Are you serious? The phone call was Anissa (Adie's mom) calling to tell me that Adie was going to Lakewood Health Systems in Staples to be checked because her contractions were just a few minutes apart. I made a few quick phone calls and was off to get Scott from the job he was working. Not far from our house so we stopped at home quick to get some different clothes for Scott and also get a few phone numbers. While Scott drove I called lots of people to let them know. Every once in a while I asked Scott if he could just drive a little bit faster but of course his answer was no that he was already going faster than he was suppose to. After I got off the phone Scott and I were talking and we said that it would be so neat if Dr Carol Uhlman delivered the baby (NOTE: She was our infertility doctor when she was in Brainerd). When we got to the hospital at 7:45 a.m., Adie's sister was waiting outside for us to show us where to go. Adie was diliated to 3cm. When we got to the room I remembered that we forgot our camera. Thank goodness that Scott's sister Kyra makes her own schedule so she was able to run out to our house and grab the camera and a few other things for us. Shortly after we got there the on call doctor came in. Guess who the doctor was? Yep Carol Uhlman! We were so excited and can you believe that she remembered us. When Dr Uhlman checked Adie about an hour later she was already diliated to 5 cm. Then we sat, visited and waited. A little after 1 pm it was time for Adie to start pushing. At 1:18 pm our wonderful little baby boy entered the world. Scott even got to cut the umbilical cord. What a little miracle of life! To see his birth announcement on Lakewood Health Systems website click here. We cannot say thank you enough to Matthew's wonderful birthparents who chose us to parent their child.
